"Whisper of The Andes", 2024
Handbuild Stoneware and Porcelain; 180x50cm
The work, titled “Whispers of the Andes,” is inspired by the overwhelming and comforting presence generated by the Andes mountain range, a wordless shelter that extends throughout Chile.
Composed of thirteen unique and imperfect pieces suspended in a delicate play of heights, they are assembled to form a harmonious whole that evokes the majesty of the mountains. Each clay, with its naturally porous texture, reflects the light differently, creating a dynamic effect that changes with the viewer's perspective. The choice of white, pure and serene, suggests the snow that covers the peaks, as well as peace and tranquility.
“Whispers of the Andes” invites to reflect on the sense of belonging, evoking the artist's nostalgia and love for the Andes mountain range, even from the distance of her life in Australia. Each piece becomes a reminder of roots, her home, and the indissoluble connection with Chilean nature.
